A Citizen's Awakening

Citizen-

  1. A legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized.
  2. An inhabitant of a particular town or city.

Citizenship-  The state of being a Citizen of a particular social, political, national, or human resource community. Citizenship status, under social contract theory, carries with it both rights and responsibilities. "Active citizenship" is the philosophy that citizens should work towards the betterment of their community through economic participation, public, volunteer work, and other such efforts to improve life for all citizens.

I Jake Malott, Am A Citizen Of The City Of Cincinnati Ohio.

There is a story which few natives to the area know and that is The Story of Cincinnatus.

His Story is One of Honour, One of Citizenship, and One of A Humble Man Who Did What Every Citizen Should.

Cincinnatus a well respected and revered Roman was forced to sell his properties and trusts in order to pay an immense fine negating one of his son's death sentence. So a once well off man now had to work his own small plot of land that he had left in order to provide for his family. The Roman's in the year 458BC were at battle with their neighbors and became in need of a Leader to guide their troops in order to save what remained of the army battling for survival in the mountains.
Cincinnatus known to be wise was sent for and asked to serve his country and save their men. Absolute dictatorship was granted to him in order to do so. Cincinnatus rode proudly into battle and saved the men and upon his arrival back to Rome gave the supreme power he had been entrusted back to the people of Rome and came to tend his fields once more. Again in the year 439BC Cincinnatus was given the Supreme Dictatorship of the Republic to quiet a conspirators plans to overthrow the Republic and AGAIN when his job was complete he Gave Power Back To The People.
Later in his life a son of his was accused of crimes and upon the stand of the jury one stated, "If we are to convict this man of his sentence who shall be the one to deliver word to Cincinnatus that his beloved son has befallen such tragedy?" The Jury dismissed his son there after.

Cincinnatus is The Example of a Citizen and The Name behind
 The City of Cincinnati.

Today I discovered a grand opportunity for myself to serve my City AND My Country.
Occupy Wall Street is a movement that started about a month ago and can be wrapped up to say that Americans are sick and tired of the Corporate Companies and Monetary Elite ruling our country in form of Capitalist Dictatorship. So in New York they began to sit in on Wall Street and they will remain there until SOMETHING IS CHANGED. I suppose if the president won't do what he promises the People will have their say!
Yesterday while I worked at Taste of Belgium I saw droves of people marching north on Vine street right in front of our shop and was lucky enough to be informed of the events occurring. Occupy Cincinnati has stirred and commenced. The People of Cincinnati want reform! So today my good friend Mallory invited me to join her for assembly at Garfield Park on the corner of Garfield Place and Vine Street...Of Course I accepted : D
After hours of sitting and listening to input from so many enthused people Mallory and I became restless and I gained an understanding of how tiring a day at Congress could become...so we went for a stroll to Millionaires Row on Dayton Street past the Brewery District to loosen our legs and take in the sights of what our Grand Queen City had fallen from. I returned to Garfield Place and Mallory went home. I joined the communications delegation and helped to write the Media Press Release Foundations. I am a novice to all of this and am quite excited for the learning and activism to come and especially the change that is inevitable.
Occupy Cincinnati has established its indefinite home base to be Garfield Park and I am Proud to Say that I was there and will be there to help write history. The Tides of Change are Rolling In. It starts with our Cities , then Our States, And Finally Our Country. Help the People and Become A Citizen. Find More information at these sites.
